Once upon a time…
I’ve always been a dreamer. I always found myself searching for a “somewhere else.” Whether it be in a book, movie, video game, or daydream; I’ve always loved the idea of experiencing a big adventure.
One thing I’ve always been drawn to, more than anything else, is fantasy - books, movies, music, games. My biggest love of fantasy is, and always has been, the unparalleled work of Tolkien; The Lord of the Rings trilogy. From a young age, I was immensely inspired by this series’ sense of adventure, the movies’ breathtaking nature, and moving story. I wanted to emulate that in my photography and in my life.
After graduating college, I had an overwhelming need for an adventure. I’ve loved all things Japan since as far back as I can remember, and had this crazy dream of moving there. So, in 2018, that’s just what I did! It’s been an adventure of a lifetime, to say the least. I had finally found my “somewhere else.”
Behind the lens…
I was born & raised in Southern California. My love of photography started from a young age. My parents bought me my first camera when I was about 12 years old - just a simple point and shoot.
As I grew older, I saved up enough money to purchase a more professional camera. The more I practiced, what I found myself loving the most was capturing people.
I’ve been photographing the world as I see it for over 10 years now. My photography is strongly influenced by cinema, fantasy, art, people, and storytelling. I specialize in portrait photography, preferring natural light and more candid/ authentic moments. Photography is more than just photos for me. Capturing stories that can be told without words, to be able to stop time and preserve it in that moment… what could be better?
My shooting & editing style…
My shooting style is all about capturing candid, authentic moments. I prefer working with natural light, I want to capture moments full of emotion and life. Your uniqueness. I prefer the real moments that capture the warmth, love, and distinctiveness of your story.
My editing style is inspired by nature, adventure, and film. I prefer warmer, more natural colors and dreamlike scenery. As my taste and style have developed over the years, I prefer to not over-edit my photos, but instead try to bring out their natural elements. The colors will be vibrant, yet flattering, with plenty of contrast and brightness. I view photography as a constantly evolving creative process. I always want to refine my skills and never stop learning.
